2020 Congress Updates
Update 21st July 2020
Exciting CME opportunities and considerably reduced registration fees for Glasgow 2020
ESP and IAP have been redesigning and updating the congress schedule, including sessions on COVID-19 pathology, with significantly reduced registration fees, which allow the broadest possible audience to participate in the scientific programme.
The virtual congress will take place from 6 - 8 December 2020.
Registration fees have been lowered considerably and can be found on the congress website.
All existing registrations will be carried forward and refunds for balances will be processed automatically – there is no need for you to do anything.
Not Yet Registered?
Be part of the first virtual edition of a joint ESP/IAP Congress.
The payment deadline for your reduced registration fee remains 7 September 2020. All abstracts whose authors have registered by the deadline will be published in a supplement of Virchows Archiv.
An application will be made to the UEMS EACCME for accreditation of the ESP/IAP 2020 Virtual Congress.
CME credits per day are expected to be equivalent to previous congresses of the ESP. More detailed information will become available on the website prior to the congress.

The Organising Team of the ESP/IAP Congress 2020
Update 3rd July 2020
As a result of the non-availability of the Scottish Event Campus recently communicated (see link below), the joint XXXIII Congress of the International Academy of Pathology and 32nd Congress of the European Society of Pathology scheduled for Glasgow for 6 to 8 December 2020 will now be delivered as a virtual event. This is an exciting opportunity for the global pathology world to experience this innovative methodology in such a wide ranging way for the first time.
The exact format of the virtual ESP-IAP Congress 2020 is being confirmed by the joint organisers, the ESP and the British Division of the IAP, with our professional congress organisers, CPO HANSER SERVICE, and will be communicated as soon as possible. There will be a reduction in registration fees. Revised dates for registration will be communicated soon. All existing registrations will be carried forward, although those delegates who do not wish to participate in a virtual conference will receive full reimbursement. The content of the meeting will be largely unchanged, with the addition of dedicated sessions for the evolving pathology of Covid-19 infection. All speakers and conveners will be contacted shortly.
Authors of accepted abstracts will be given the opportunity to present their work as communicated in the abstract notifications - and will soon be contacted with further details.
Link to message from the SEC Glasgow:
‘The SEC continues to support the Scottish Government and the NHS in their strategy to deal with COVID19. In April of this year, the SEC was converted into a support medical facility ‘NHS Louisa Jordan’, like many conference venues around the world. The increasing likelihood is that the venue will remain as a support medical facility, and therefore, be unavailable for the ESP/IAP Congress which was rescheduled from September to December’. The SEC is deeply sorry that it will not be able to welcome the delegates of ESP/IAP this year’.
We remain devoted to providing you with the best cutting-edge pathology science, this time, in a novel, engaging format.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you to our virtual meeting in December 2020.
