IAP Bursary Application
2024 XXXV Cancun International Congress
October 27-31, 2024
Bursaries have been established to support trainees and pathologists in their early career from under-served countries to attend International Congresses of the IAP. This has been supported by the Education Committee as well as by the many IAP Divisions, including USCAP.
Applicants should be from underserved countries
Applicants who are 45 years old or younger at the time of application will be given preference, together with Preference is given to trainees or pathologists who are practising with less than 5 years of training. A small number of Senior Pathologist Bursaries are available on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants must have submitted an abstract to the Congress via the Congress Website (https://iap2024.com/abstract-submission/)
Abstract acceptance as a presenting author is a condition of the bursary. If an abstract is not accepted the applicant will not be deemed eligible for a bursary.
Bursaries provide funding for IAP 2024 congress registration and contributions for travel costs and hotel accommodation in Cancun. Exact arrangements are to be determined for financial contributions towards flight and hotel accommodation. More details to be announced in due course.
Application Process
Prerequisite: Prior to applying for a bursary, applicants must have submitted an abstract to the Congress via the Congress website.
Once your abstract has been submitted and you have received one or more abstract IDs from Congress organizers, complete the online application form below.
Please note:
Only completed applications will be considered.
When completing the application form, applicants will be asked to include their submitted abstract number(s) and the title of the abstract(s).
Applicants will be notified of the result of their application following acceptance of their abstract by the Congress Organizing Committee. Please note this is a separate process from the administration of bursary applications and must be handled independently.
Conditions of the bursary
The following conditions apply for successful bursary recipients:
Bursary recipients are required to write a brief report to the IAP Education Committee Chair following the Congress.
Bursary recipients should share the educational materials of the Congress with pathologists of their home countries.
Bursaries will be awarded in alignment with the Financial Action Task Force framework.
Key dates
Abstract submission deadline to the IAP2024 Congress: June 5th 2024
Bursary application deadline: June 12th 2024
Outcomes will be communicated with applicants in mid to late June, following abstract notification of acceptance
Special bursaries
In addition to bursary funding made available through contributing Divisions the British Division of the IAP is also sponsoring applicants from its Schools areas including the Nermin Durakovic bursary The German Division of the IAP and the Vladimir Totovic Foundation are sponsoring residents or non-residents who will participate in the Cancun IAP conference. Both of these bursary funding opportunities are administered through the IAP. Simply fill out the form below.
Other bursaries are being made available by the British Division for BDIAP Trainee Members from its member countries. For more information, please visit bdiap.org. Additional bursaries may be offered through other Divisions of the IAP. Please check with your division for details.
Please note however that you can only be awarded one bursary from any of the ones offered for applicants wishing to attend the upcoming IAP Congress.
