Henry Moon graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, California in 1940. From 1953-1974 he was Professor of Pathology and Chairman of the Department at the University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco, California. Henry was an expert on forensic and endocrine pathology. Before he received his MD degree, he published 10 papers. This research helped contribute to the final isolation of ACTH. In all, he published 95 papers. He was President of a number of societies including the American Association of Pathologists and Bacteriologists. Two of his public service assignments were in the capacity of Visiting Professor to the USSR and Korea. In Seoul, Syngman Rhee, the first President of the Republic of Korea received him affectionately because at the turn of the century, he and Henry’s father had migratedto the US to escape oppression at home. Together they had helped organize the exiled Koreans and raise money for the revolutionary cause. When Henry had completed his official duties in Seoul, he was able to make contact with relatives who presented him with genealogy tables of the Moon family going back several centuries, and they showed him some graves of his ancestors.
